Really beautiful ceramics work by Asya Palatova. I love the simple beauty of her designs and I am oh so thrilled that she has an etsy shop for me to pick up one of these lovely pieces at a VERY affordable price. She also runs a very nice blog here.

Royal/T Cafe

The new Royal/T Cafe in Culver City looks awesome and I can’t wait to make it down there next weekend on my “stay-cation” 🙂  It looks to me like it’s a play off of the cake cafe’s in Japan where waitresses dress up like french maids and feed patrons cake and tea. Now, while I found that to be really interesting I’m not sure how comfortable I’d be in a “feed-me-cake scenario”. But no cake feeding goes on at this Culver City location, at least I hope not, that would be awkward…. anywho! Saw these gorgeous photos on Green Wedding while perusing around looking for inspiration while designing my sister’s save the date cards. I’ll post pics of those soon too!

Penguins

il_430xN.79401281

Okay, show of hands, who doesn’t think penguins are crazy adorable? No? No one huh? What if said penguins also were I dunno maybe personalized and had cute little props and were carefully handmade by an equally lovely former classmate of mine? Even cuter I think! My lovely friend Akiyo of My Dear Darling makes very cute detailed little penguins, I plan on gifting one to my niece for her upcoming bday. In the meantime there’s a nifty GIVEAWAY going on over at the My Dear Darling blogspot, enter now for your chance to win your very own mini penguin!

Murakami, Kaikai & Kiki…say that three times fast

picture-30

Takashi Murakami has announced a new expansion to Kaikai Kiki, his global art empire. He’s bringing it to Hollywood! Why you ask? To open Murakami’s animation and film studio. Awesome.

“This studio represents a great step in the evolution of Kaikai Kiki and gives me a closer proximity to the community of artists with whom I hope to collaborate as I continue my explorations of animated and live-action film,” said Murakami in a statement.

This is pretty exciting, Murakami’s work is perfect for animation! It’ll be interesting to see how these films develop and what kinds of tones they take on. Murakami has always been known to do pieces around the subjects of consumerism, war, peace and other political themes. Will these films continue that? Oohh! Can’t wait to see…
