How was everyone’s christmas break? Mine was awesome, I finally got to have my very first white Christmas and it was such a nice change fromt he mid 70s weather I usually experience during the holidays. This year I really tried to buy mostly handmade gifts for my loved ones since it’s so much better for the economy and there’s just such a nice feeling that comes with receiving a personalized handmade item that doesn’t compare to something store bought. For my newest little niece I purchased a handmade doll knit by Grace over at Done by Digits. I even had the pleasure of meeting Grace personally at Patchwork when the show came to Long Beach. As soon as I came over to her booth I fell in love with the lovely dolls she makes an knew I had to order one. And so Grace was nice enough to help me create an adorably ethnic little doll for baby Bella. Isn’t she just adorable?

Okay, show of hands, who doesn’t think penguins are crazy adorable? No? No one huh? What if said penguins also were I dunno maybe personalized and had cute little props and were carefully handmade by an equally lovely former classmate of mine? Even cuter I think! My lovely friend Akiyo of My Dear Darling makes very cute detailed little penguins, I plan on gifting one to my niece for her upcoming bday. In the meantime there’s a nifty GIVEAWAY going on over at the My Dear Darling blogspot, enter now for your chance to win your very own mini penguin!
I’m really loving these adorable handmade creatures from Stitchface. How cute are these? They range between $24- $30 a creature, but how can you resist their faces??
McDonald’s recently asked the creative group UXUS Design to redo the children’s play area in all their European restaurants. The theme for the project revolved around “what i eat, what i do”. The resulting “McVillage” has 3 freestanding cottages, a farm, kitchen, and market. I absolutely love this great alternative to ball pits and slides. And they are so beautiful and whimsical, not at all what I would expect from MCDonald’s. Found this via design sponge, read more about the project at UXUS web site.
I found this absolutely amazing and lovely etsy shop that sells Vintage Children’s Books! Actually the name of the shop is really Vintage Kid’s Books My Kid Loves, that alone makes it a winner I think. But these books are seriously cheap, who doesn’t love that? Plus, I think it’s fun to read something an older book to a kid because it bring up all the nostalgia. Here are a few of the covers that I liked the best. Aren’t they great?
